MG T Type Rebuild
From the outside the original TC looked in reasonable shape. However, every part of the ash body frame was rotten and every panel of the outer skin was badly corroded, with the exception of the bonnet and radiator grill. The wheels were also in a dangerous condition, the rims were corroded inside and out. |
The angle steel body frame was replaced. The ash coachwork was replaced. The body tub was skinned in aluminium. Wings, running boards and rear guards replaced. All 4 road springs were reset and retempered. Wheels were rebuild, and the wiring harness replaced. |
All internal panels were replaced with resin bonded ply. The engine was rebuilt including a reground crank, new valves and guides, timming chain and sprockets. The bores however were in good shape so were just glaze busted. All the chrome was replated and finally the body refinished in Rose Red. |
The finished car drives like new, is tight and rattle free. Most importantly, retains the feel of the forties. |
